Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
